The Minnesota Department of Health, Office of Medical Cannabis Condition Review Panel met on Thursday, August 24th in St. Paul, MN to discuss the petitions they received for the addition of Qualifying Medical Conditions to Minnesota Medical Cannabis Law.
The meeting went really well and there were several community members in attendance. The Review Panel consists of doctors, a pharmacist, and a patient advocate who sounded supportive of MN’s Medical Cannabis Program and the potential for giving relief to patients with the conditions described in the petitions they received from the public. The meeting allowed for limited public comments and discussion regarding MN Medical Cannabis Program, doctor participation, and patient/caregiver access throughout the state.
The next Review Panel meeting will be on Thursday, September 8th at The Wellstone Center, Anna Heilmaier Meeting Room, 179 Robie St. E St. Paul, MN 55107. The meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue until public comment has been completed. This meeting will discuss & take public comment for the following petitions:
- Autism,
- Diabetes,
- Acquired Absence of Limb, and
- Schizophrenia.
The following Review Panel meeting will be on Thursday, September 22nd at The Wellstone Center, Anny Heilmaier Meeting Room, 179 Robie St. E St. Paul, MN 55107. The meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue until public comment has been completed. This meeting will discuss and take public comment for the following petitions:
- PTSD,
- Treatment Resistant Depression,
- Arthritis,
- Insomnia, and
- Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
There will be a sign-up sheet for public comment at each of the meetings and the time allowed for each public comment is TBD and will be based on meeting attendance by MDH. Comments will likely be limited to 3-5 minutes per speaker. We strongly encourage the public to show up at these meetings to support the petitions.
If you’re unable to attend the meetings, public comment can be e-mailed to the Office of Medical Cannabis for Certifiable Medical Condition petitions. Comments on the condition petitions will be received until September 20, 2016.
There are no public meetings to discuss the petitions for the addition of Delivery Methods. Pending Delivery Method petitions, comments can be e-mailed to the Office of Medical Cannabis. Comments on Delivery Method petitions must be received by September 15, 2016. Currently, petitions for edibles, topicals, vaporization of cannabis flower, and use of the plant are pending. The Commissioner will make decisions on these petitions based upon the petitions themselves and the public comment received.
